User Interface Prototype
A teammate (Carys) and I participated in the 2-day CreateSC 2024 design-a-thon by Innovation Design @ University of Southern California, where the prompt was to create a mobile application platform aimed at enhancing accessibility and enriching the entertainment experience for individuals needing medical accommodations.
This project received an Honorable Mention award.
Design Process
- Ideation - Researching common issues that those with physical disabilities face when going outdoors and finding recreation in nature to establish a problem statement.
- Empathy Mapping - Empathize on how users with physical disabilities may feel, think, do, or say in regards to going on trips in nature sites such as parks, mountains, rivers, etc.
- Wireframing - A rough drawing of the application's potential structure was drawn on digitally and using Balsamiq to test which features are necessary and identify the most effective layout.
- High Fidelity Prototyping on Figma - Creating the first iteration the boundless app based on the wireframe, including determining a style guide of typography and color palettes.
- Cognitive Walkthrough - Conducting a cognitive walkthrough where we went through the prototype with a goal in mind and see if any issues or potential confusions arise during the user flow, including whether we were able to complete our intended task.
- Finalizing - Make changes to the prototype based on feedback to create the final iteration of boundless.
